The Blood of the Crucified

Zamora, 1682. Fernando de Zúñiga, doctor in Medicine by the University of Salamanca, answers to the call of the bishop. Monsignor Balmaseda entrusts him to find out the origin of a statue of a crucified Christ, found in mysterious circumstances and which seems to hold some relation with the death of a blacksmith. Doctor Zúñiga soon finds out that the case at hand hides a whole web of terrible murders, whose investigation will take him on a voyage through the university city of Salamanca, the court of Madrid and the city of Seville, once opulent and now as agonizing as the crucified figures in the religious processions through its streets.

“The Blood of the Crucified” is an historical thriller set in late 17th century Spain, whose protagonists mingle with kings, clerics and artists. A novel where the artistic splendour of the Baroque and the political intrigue surrounding the last Hapsburg King become an exhilarating adventure.
